The DOs and DON’Ts of a GREAT Walt Disney World Vacation

Mobile Ordering

A new Disney experience that is very WORTH IT is the mobile ordering feature. On the ‘My Disney Experience’ app, under ‘My Plans’, click the ‘Mobile Ordering’ tab and click the items from the menu you want. Once you are done, click order and the order is in the system. Once you arrive to the dining location, click a button that says “I’m Here” and the order will come to the mobile ordering within five or less minutes. The places this works the best at are ‘Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café’ and ‘Aloha Isle’ in the Magic Kingdom and the World Showcase dining experiences in Epcot. I tried it out when I ate at ABC Commissary and when I got a Dole Whip at Aloha Isle. I must say that the Mobile Ordering is a must do compared to waiting in line and then waiting for your food. It saves a lot of time and let’s you experience more of the park.

Park Hopper Passes

Alright, for me, this seems like a no brainer. Obviously, if you have the room in your budget you should do the Hopper. The reason I say so is that the Hopper gives you flexibility and breathing room. For instance, you are staying at a Disney hotel and it is during the Christmas season. It is a non-party day and the Magic Kingdom has extra magic hours in the morning. You go to the Magic Kingdom in the morning and then every human on the face of this planet comes to the Kingdom and you see the wait times go from five minutes to forty-five at the Tea Cups. (insanity) Epcot’s Festival of the Holidays is empty so you can HOP OVER to Epcot and enjoy thirty minute waits at Soarin’ and fifty minute waits at Test Track.

The Hopper makes me feel like I am in control where I feel like I am stuck when I have a ‘Magic Your Way’ ticket. Of course, sometimes when I go I’ll get a ‘Magic Your Way’ ticket but most times, since the first time I got the Hopper, I will get the Hopper.

Places Not to Eat at in the World

In the last few years, Disney has really stepped up their food game and since then the regular dining options now appear… bad. In the Magic Kingdom, I would recommend not making a visit to any of the restaurants in Tomorrowland except Joffrey’s. Cosmic Ray’s is one where if you order something good it would be decent but everywhere else is just burgers and fries that aren’t that great. In Epcot, I would not recommend the Electric Umbrella with all of the wonderful dining spots in World Showcase or even Sunshine Seasons. In Disney’s Hollywood Studios, I would NEVER eat at ABC Commissary. That was the worst dining experience at Disney I have ever had in my life. The burger was charred and cold, the fries were tasteless and the atmosphere has not changed since the opening of the park. This space would be fine if they upgraded the menu and made the area more into an area that is up to date with ABC and has the dining rooms of the television programs on ABC like The Middle, Blackish, or Fresh Off the Boat. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park is a wonderful food location but I would not eat at Pizzafari or Restaurantosaurus. They both are mediocre and just plain. If you have a picky eater, these might have better options for you compared to Yak & Yeti Express or Harambe Market.

Rent Disney Vacation Club Points

Here is the BEST way to stay on property. You can stay at any of the deluxe resorts and some of them, you can stay at for cheaper than you can stay at Pop Century. You can rent points at David’s DVC Rentals which I have used to book a vacation. You can book up to 11 months in advanced and you need to to book as soon as possible because when I used them I booked about nine months in advanced and I didn’t get my first or second choice but we did book at Disney’s Old Key West Resort and we have not stayed there yet but when I stay, a blog post will be coming. It will be the cheapest and easiest way to stay and now you get free parking, which you cannot get if you stay at any Disney resort if you go through DisneyWorld.com.
